Jordan Brand has been on fire lately with their retro releases, and the Air Jordan 1 “University Blue” is no exception. As a long-time fan of the Jordan 1 silhouette, I immediately noticed this colorway, and I knew I had to get my hands on a pair.
The last time we saw this color was back in 2021, and the hype was real. Fast forward to 2024, and I’m sure sneaker heads have been eagerly awaiting the return of this classic. One thing that stands out right away is the attention to detail, from the smooth leather to the icy blue outsole that pops. The University Blue colorway is not only iconic but also incredibly versatile—it pairs easily with almost anything, from casual jeans to more elevated streetwear looks.
The shoes themselves look even better in person. The color contrast between the blue, white, and black is spot-on, and the materials feel premium. As someone who’s always had a soft spot for blue Jordans, these are definitely at the top of my rotation.
However, one thing I did notice is that the leather quality isn’t quite on par with some of the previous AJ1 releases, like the “Bred” or “Royal.” It’s still decent, but there’s a slight stiffness in the toe box area that might take some time to break in. That being said, the comfort is still great, and I’ve had no issues wearing them for long periods.
For sizing, I recommend going true to size. I’m usually a 9 US, and these fit just right. They might feel a little snug at first, but like most Jordan 1s, they break in nicely after a few wears.
The Air Jordan 1 “University Blue” is a must-have for any Jordan collector or fan of classic colorways. It’s one of those pairs you can throw on any day, and it’s guaranteed to turn heads.
